The Pearls of Cherry Guernsey lily provides a spectacular visual experience in a late summer garden. This magnificent plant produces numerous slender stems that end with clusters of semi-spherical, elegant flowers that form brightly coloured spots when other plants slowly lose their looks. Guernsey lily Pearls of Cherry produces unique pink-red flowers with slightly fringed petal edges and a satin glow. They are radially symmetrical and the outward bending petals are the reason why many compare Guernsey lily with lily flowers. The first are definitely smaller and subtler than the latter. Umbels of flowers that top erect, leafless stems excrete a strong, sweet scent that many find very pleasant. Guernsey lily flowers relatively late, at the end of the gardening season, when its flowers seem to prolong the summer and delay dull, grey autumn look on flower beds. This plant forms narrow tufts of semi-erect strap-shaped leaves. Its form harmonizes both with perennials and annuals. Bright flowers look great on the background of uniformly green deciduous shrubs or a brick wall. Presented plant perfectly fits into Mediterranean and rock gardens, as well as onto naturalistic flower beds. Cut Guernsey lilies delight in bouquets and other arrangements. They belong to the longest lasting flowers - they remain fresh in a vase for up to three weeks!

Guernsey lily bulbs, both planted in pots and on a flower bed, feel best in warm, sunny situation that is also sheltered from wind. Permeable, sandy-clay, rather loose soil allows the plant to develop healthy and grow abundantly. Plant bulbs starting mid-April at a depth that would leave their tips overground. Protect plants from spring frost at least until mid-May by covering them, i.e. with garden fleece. Taking care of Guernsey lily does not require much time. It requires regular, yet moderate watering during growth stage, so the soil remains constantly moist, particularly during periods of heat or drought. Fertilize this spectacular flowering plant weekly all vegetation season long. Guernsey lily is partially winter hardy. However, in Central, Eastern, and Northern Europe (as well as in similar climate) we recommend digging out bulbs in autumn and storing them in boxes in a room where temperature does not exceed 8⁰C.
