The "Viennese" kohlrabi, also known as german turnip (Brassica oleracea convar. acephala var. gongylodes) enjoys constant popularity among the gardeners because of the over average taste value and early harvest, even though it produces rather small stems weighing 100-180 grams. Rounded, slightly flattened stems with white skin and flesh are juicy and crisp, rich in protein, fibre, vitamin C, vitamins of the B-group and valuable mineral salts. They can be eaten raw, like radishes or added to sandwiches, salads and soups.

Kohlrabi intended for the early harvest should be grown from seedlings, that can be easily grown in a hotbed or at home, in glass-covered pots. You may also consider direct sowing into ground in the second half of spring. The plants require moist, permeable, humous and aerated soil. The stems can be harvested from June to August.

Each packet contains 1 g of "Viennese" kohlarabi seeds. Growing guide and sow-by date are included in the package information.
