Lawson Cypress is a 1.5 – 2 metres in height and 0.5 – 1 metre wide hedge with a narrow, conical crown and flattened branched twigs. Its leaves turn red in the autumn. The cones are ball-shaped; the young cones are blue, while mature cones are brown brown. Lawson Cypress is planted mainly in parks, gardens, on their own or in small groupings, and sometimes they are used for bonsai cultivation. Its advantage as a decorative plant is the ease of forming it by cutting.
Growing: sow the seeds in containers or in pots from March to May. The seeds germinate unevenly for several weeks in the temperature range of 5-8oC. The two months old seedlings should be planted in pots where they will grow until they are planted out to a permanent position. This variety requires moderately moist permeable soils.
