The legume-and-forage mix for aftercrop is a selection of legume and forage plants for cultivation as green fertilizer. It contains, among others, field pea, narrowleaf lupin, horse bean, spring vetch, sunflower, corn, spring barley and oats. These species stand out with great vigour, rapid growth and provide valuable fodder material for all farm animals. The mix offered here in 1 kg packages is particularly well suited as aftercrop for the early vegetables. It is recommended to be sown before grains and vegetables that require thoroughly cultivated, weed-free and nitrogen-rich soil. Legumes and forage plants for aftercrop are sown in spring and than mowed before they produce seeds. Their stems and leaves can be ground and ploughed together with roots in order to enrich the soil with rich organic matter, or used as fodder.

The purpose of culvitation of the legume-and-forage mix is improving soil structure, its proper aeration and loosening, as well as protection from erosion and weeds. Legumes like field pea, spring vetch and horse bean that were included in our mix live in symbiosis with rhizobia bacteria that help enrich soil with nitrogen - the element necessary for grains and vegetable to yield rich harvest.

Aftercrop plants are sown in spring, 3 - 4 cm deep. Sowing density amounts to 160 - 180 kg per 1 ha.
