The popular lilies are bulbous plants, whose main advantage and often the reason to grow them in the first place are magnificent, beautifully scented, colourful flowers. Their charm and uniqueness are the reasons why the lily is often used as decoration. The Empoli variety stands out from its relatives with unusual colouring: its pink flowers have a green-yellow calyx tubes. The mature plant grows about 120 cm. Lilies are accompanied by a characteristic, pleasant smell that can be sensed in their vicinity. These plants require a nutrient rich soil with a subtly acidic pH in order to develop properly. Whether the site is sunny or in partial shade plays a secondary role for the lilies. Plant their bulbs at the depth that equals their circumference, a dozen or so centimetres apart. The end of September is the right time to plant lilies. The usually spectacular and abundant flowering period falls on the middle of summer. The species offered here handles temperatures below the freezing point well and requires covering only in case of extremely strong frost. Viruses and fungal diseases might cause problems in cultivation of lilies. Both the excess watering and shortage of water can hurt the plants, so we recommend to approach this subject reasonably.

The price quoted above is valid for 10 Empoli lily bulbs sized 16 to 18 cm. The plant growing tips can be found at the back side of the package.
