The Mexican Hat plant is a perennial that grows 70 to 90 centimetres in height, with straight, slightly reclining shoots that produce one-of-a-kind flowers. The flowers, with yellow and mahogany petals, flower over a comparatively long period of time. Mexican Hat is predominantly used for growing in perennial beds or variety-specific gardens. Also, the plant is recommended for a cut flower.
Growing: sow the seeds under cover from April to May. The seeds germinate in 2 to 3 weeks at 20-25°C. Plant out into the soil in 30x30cm spacings in the summer or early autumn. The plants thrive in light permeable soils in sunny positions.
