Myrtle is a popular shrub that grows 1 to 2 metres in height, which is characterised by its raised, heavily branched shoots. The shiny, dark-green leaves are the main ornamental apect of the plant. In the second half of summer, it produces small white flowers that are highly aromatic. Another feature attracting people to grow this shrub are the edible black and white fruit. The small branches of Myrtle are often used for making decorations.
Growing: sow the seeds in covered containers from May to April. The seeds germinate within two months. As the plants grow, transplant them to larger pots. Thie variety grows best indoors or outside in the summer and loves sunny positions protected from the wind in fairly moist fertile soils.
