Nerine is a summer bulbous perennial that delights with its delicate, funnel-shaped flowers that consist of wavy petals. Those magnificent, airy clusters of flowers sit atop stiff, straight stems that are surrounded by long, narrow leaves. The shape of individual nerine flowers resembles tiny fireworks, bringing juicy, bright colours to the already fading late summer garden. The combination of white, shades of pink and red, appearing after planting presented selection, proves to be an effective way to adorn flower beds, borders, and lawn groupings. The 50 to 70 centimetres tall plant looks beautiful in a pot too. Placed on a sunny balcony or terrace, it will introduce an exotic touch that is conducive to relaxation. The long and late flowering period, spanning from August to October, makes the beautiful nerine a plant worth the attention of every gardener.
To produce flowers, nerine should be planted in spring. The place should be sunny and sheltered from the wind. Permeable, fertile soil, enriched with humous stimulates plant growth. Add a drainage layer to heavier soils and loosen them with sand. Make sure that plants are sufficiently provided with nutrients, and the pH of the soil is not acidic. Plant nerine bulbs from the end of April through May, about 8 to 10 centimetres deep. Leave bulb tops overground. When planting nerine in larger groupings, keep plants about 20 centimetres apart.
One package contains one bulb of the Nerine Mix, sized 12 to 14 centimetres in diameter. Packaging label contains basic plant facts and a quick growing guide.
