The ornamental sunflower "Bambino" (Helianthus annuus) is a dwarf variety. The plants reach a maximum height of 30 - 40 cm. Single flower heads with 10 - 12 cm in diameter, consisting of golden-yellow ray flowers surrounding brown disc flowers appear atop the stiff stems from May until autumn. This variety is recommended for cultivation in pots or at low borders. In autumn the wilted inflorescences turn to bird fodder. Sunflower blooms are a natural medicine decreasing fever that accompanies colds and flu, supporting digestion and soothing swells and bruises in compresses. Sunflower is also a wonderful melliferous plant.
Seeds of the "Bambino" sunflower may be sown directly onto the field from April to May in 30 x 50 cm spacings, or from December to April into glass-covered pots. The seedlings need two to three weeks to develop. After that you should transfer them to the permanent site. Ornamental sunflower needs to be cultivated on sunny, warm site with fertile and sufficiently moist soils.
A package contains 1 g of "Bambino" sunflower seeds, as well as the sow-by date and growing instructions.
