"Apricot Twist" pot marigold (Calendula officinalis) is an annual plant that grows 25 - 30 cm and develops broadly branched, round, spherical habit. Shoots and leaves are thickly covered with soft, glandular hairs that excrete a characteristic aroma after being touched. From June to October numerous double or semi-double flower heads that are apricot-coloured in case of the "Apricot Twist" variety bloom atop the stems. Regular removal of the wilted inflorescences allows to extend the blooming period.

"Apricot Twist" pot marigold is perfectly suited for lower borders, edgings and balcony boxes. Pot marigold blooms find widespread use in medicine and cosmetics industry. They contain flavonoids, that protect us from free radicals and toxic substances, minerals (magnesium and manganese) and vitamin C. They show anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, diastolic, cholagogue effects and moisturize and regenerate skin. Additionally, substances that pot marigold contains block development of the cancer cells.

Seeds of the "Apricot Twist" pot marigold are sown directly to the field in 25-30x30 cm spacings in April-May. The emergence occurs after 7 - 10 days. You have to thin the too densely growing seedlings, leaving ca. 20 cm distances between the plants. Pot marigolds are really undemanding. They prefer sunny sites with moderately moist soil.
