The 'Egyptian' (Egipski) red beetroot, whose seeds we offer with a hydrogel tape, is an innovative, cutting-edge product. The special combination of two biodegradable tapes significantly increases the chance to grow abundant amount of large roots. This product does not deteriorate the environment, is easy and safe to use.
The 'Egyptian' beetroot is an excellent early variety of the red beetroot. The most prominent characteristics of this productive variety is the shape of its roots that is flattened and discus-like. The roots consist of a delicious, dark red, sweet flesh. The variety presented here is recommended for harvest in bundles and long term storing. The vegetation period of this variety lasts 90-110 days.
The seed tapes enriched with hydrogel should be placed in 1 to 3 cm deep grooves between April and June. We recommend to keep the rows 30 to 50 cm apart. The roots become harvest ready between June and October depending on the exact date of sow.
The hydrogel in the tape is a compound that helps to keep up to 95% of water within the plant's reach. It is biodegradable, does not influence the environment in any way and remains active for up to 5 years. Hydrogel improves the soil structure, protects the plants from drought and reduces the loss of nutrients. The addition of hydrogel to the soil effectively stimulates the development of the roots. It constitutes a fully natural water storage that the plants can use during drought periods.
Each package contains 3-metre seed tape (with ca. 60 seeds) and 3 metres of hydrogel tape. The product information and the sow-by date can be found on the back of the package.
