The "Red Highland" Asiatic lily develops magnificent blood-red flowers that will delight many connoisseurs of that species. This rare colour gives this lily a unique, fiery character. Unfolding flower cups consist of broad, fleshy petals. A cluster of long anthers with the central stamen ads the finishing touch to the flowers. Between five and seven flowers can develop on one stalk. The 70 to 90 centimetres tall "Red Highland" is characterized by high resistance to unfavourable weather conditions. Red flowers accompanied by brightly green, shiny leaves constitute a classic composition that never goes out of garden fashion. You can experience the beauty of this variety from June to end of July, depending on the weather.

Asiatic lilies do not require much gardening skills. These plants are easy to grow and can be successfully planted in every garden. These plants, resistant to diseases, pests, and low temperatures, constitute an excellent border and planter decoration. Their attractive colours and growth form win them more and more fans. Lilies prefer sunny sites and partial shade. Asiatic lily bulbs should be planted in autumn. Bury them in the well prepared, humous and permeable soil. Recommended planting depth is 12 to 15 centimetres and the bulbs should be planted 30 centimetres apart. Asiatic lilies develop well in soils with neutral reaction between pH 6.5 and 7.0. Use pots measuring at least 25 centimetres in diameter if you intend to grow lilies in containers. Place a drainage layer onto the bottom of pots to avoid excess water in the ground.

Taking care of Asiatic lilies requires removing of wilted flowers that might weaken the bulb, fertilizing and watering during drought periods.
