Sweet pea is an annual creeper that you may associate with old-style grandma's garden. Nowadays it becomes more and more popular in home gardens kept in various styles. The marvellous colours, easy cultivation and the heavenly scent are the features of the plant that you simply cannot resist. Sweet pea is a great plant that both amateur and professional gardeners love. It does not have high cultivation requirements and its seeds have a high germination rate.

The up to 2 metres long sweet pea shoots are irregularly covered with butterfly-shaped flowers that have a sweet, pleasant fragrance. The light blue loose flower clusters sit on long, stiff petioles and appear on the plants from mid June to end of August. If you provide them with the appropriate site, you will enjoy large numbers of these magnificently scented flowers for a long time. The leaves and shoots that are equipped with tendrils eagerly climb on all kinds of supports, trellises and fences. The colourful flowers that are accompanied by grey green leaves create wonderful covers on pergolas, gazebos and railings. The quickly growing sweet pea offers a great solution for creating a green wall that shelters your place of relaxation.

Sweet pea seeds should be sown in clusters, 2-3 seeds per hole, on sunny sites. It does not have high soil requirements, yet it grows best and most abundantly in permeable, lime soils. Spring, March to May, is the optimal time for sowing sweet pea seeds. We recommend to soak seeds 24 hours in water before the sow in order to speed up germination. If the time is of essence, you may grow seedlings in a greenhouse or on a hotbed. The seedlings should be transferred to the target site without damaging the root system. The flowering period starts relatively early, already a few weeks after the sow. Keep the plants 20 to 30 cm apart.

Sweet pea likes regular treatment, such as weeding, watering, fertilizing and removing of wilted flowers.

One package contains 3 gram of light blue sweet pea seeds. The detailed growing instructions and the sow-by date can be found at the back of the packaging.
