The Toto black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) is a dwarf version of the popular species. It is distinguished by a very nice, branchy habit, as well as early and abundant flowering. It reaches a maximum height of 30 to 40 centimetres, which makes it suitable for many places in the garden, and for cultivation in containers. This new, already popular variety produces hairy stems and leaves. Golden ray flowers surround fluffy centre of disc flowers that take on a dark, deep chocolate colour. Black-eyed Susan starts to bloom in July and ends only in September. The low-growing Toto black-eyed Susan constitutes an irreplaceable part of borders, flower beds, and other rustic, rural and naturalistic arrangements. It looks great planted over a larger patch of land. They harmonize well with taller phloxes, bushy asters, purple hyssops, and subtle ornamental grasses. Stems with the 5-centimetre wide flowers can be cut and arranged into bouquets in vases at home. This variety is perfect for a balcony or terrace too. Its compact tufts look great in various types of pots and boxes.
Growing black-eyed Susan is easy. It grows without any problems at sunny and semi-shaded sites. It does not have any special soil requirements, yet fare way better in nutritious soils that are rich in humus.
We hereby offer one seedling of the Toto black-eyed Susan. Basic plant information and growing tips were printed on the packaging label.
