The Candela tulip produces large yellow flowers with contrasting black anthers. Those blooms sit atop thick stalks and stand out with a slender noble shape. This variety instantly becomes a head turner everywhere it grows. Low growing and early blooming Candela tulips herald the coming of the spring to your garden. The flatly opening flowers spread beautifully at the background of the broad light green leaves. These wonderful flowers are great for naturalizing on borders and lawns as they return each year with their flowers. Their bright yellow colour constitutes a great company for all varieties that produce white and red flowers. Characteristic for the Candela tulip is the long flowering period that starts already in March. The up to 45 centimetres tall tulips are recommended for growing on edgings, in planters, and boxes on a balcony. They are sturdy cut flowers too.

To enjoy tulip flowers in spring you must plant bulbs in autumn. Place them in holes, 12 to 15 centimetres deep and 10 to 15 centimetres apart. They prefer sunny situations, yet can also grow in partial shade. A fertile, loosened, permeable soil that is rich in humus ensures proper development of tulip plants and their rich flowering.

Taking care of tulips is virtually limited to weeding, watering, and fertilizing. Top the plants after the flowers have wilted. This measure strengthens bulbs and reduces the spreading of diseases. Plants enter the summer dormancy after their intensive growth and producing flowers. You can leave the bulbs in the ground but it is recommended to dig them out and plant again in autumn.

A single package contains 5 bulbs of the Candela tulip sized 12/+. Basic plant information and growing instructions can be found on the package.
