Tulip "Exquisit" (Tulipa) is a new double variety. The shape of its inflorescences gives the name to this group of tulip cultivars: peony-shaped or ice cream tulips. These rather tall plants grow 40-50 cm all during flowering period. "Exquisit" is a late variety, whose blooms develop only in May. Their inflorescences are filled with numerous, alternately overlapping petals. The lower ones are greenish and the upper ones take on a distinct, crimson colouring. This extraordinarily ornamental plant will stand out from every border composition. Tulips should be planted in larger groupings on borders and flower lawns. You may also use them for spring bouquets that stay fresh in vases for a long time.
Bulbs of the "Exquisit" tulip should be planted in autumn, no later than in November. Choose a sunny site where the plants would bloom in the most abundant way. They prefer permeable, moist soil rich in nutrients and humus. Place the bulbs in holes 10 cm deep, keeping 10 cm distances between the plants. This variety displays high frost resistance.
