The low growing Miramare tulip is a charming variety that produces large, vividly coloured flowers. The easy to grow, weather-resistant tulip of the Greigii group constitutes a wonderful addition to every collection of spring bulb flowers. The up to thirty centimetres tall, sweet-scented Miramare tulip is a unique proposal for growing alongside paths, pavements, and alleys. It looks great in a box on a balcony, or a pot next to the home entrance. The dwarf red-orange Miramare tulip looks splendid in a rock garden, in bowls and baskets on a terrace. The fiery colouring of the Miramare variety that looks great in company of spring perennials and on the uniform background of green conifers. The compact, sturdy growth form of the low growing tulips belong to their indisputable, yet not only advantages. The spiked petals that form exceptionally large buds open wide on sunny days and stay closed in form of tear-shaped cups on cloudy days. The beautiful Miramare tulip delights not only with its flowers, but leaves too. Those broad, wavy, greyish leaves are adorned with purple markings that are arranged in an intricate pattern. That makes this plant highly ornamental not only during the flowering period.

Miramare tulip should be planted in autumn. It flowers in April and looks best in larger groups. Keep plants 8 to 10 centimetres apart in rows set in similar distances. Permeable, compost-enriched soil and a sunny site makes the flowering more abundant. The proper care upkeeps the flowering and allows you to keep tulips on the same site without transplanting for three to four years.
