The Valentine Dutch iris is a stylish variety, distinguished by its intense colour. Silky flowers consist of dark purple petals decorated with a bright yellow spots. Valentine irises appear in late spring provide a strong colour accent and immediately attract attention. Long, narrow leaves whose tufts shoot from underground bulbs are an additional advantage of Dutch irises. They add structure to a garden, offering a green background on which colourful flowers can be displayed. The Valentine Dutch iris, offered here in our store, grows approximately fifty centimetres tall. Over the years, it forms large, charming tufts. Irises look wonderful on flower beds, in compositions outside the garden, and in rock gardens. Slender, quite compact plants look nice in planters and pots. Delicate iris flowers can be arranged in most sophisticated bouquets and occasional interior decorations.
Dutch irises long for sunny and warm sites, with permeable, fertile soil. Humidity and warmth is what they need in spring as they begin to grow. They cope quite well with hot weather in summer, provided that they sufficiently watered. Planting bulbs ten to twelve centimetres (four to five inches) deep and fifteen centimetres (six inches apart) brings best results. Dutch irises have an average resistance to low temperatures, so it is recommended to cover them before winter.
Each package contains ten bulbs of the Valentine iris. Basic plant facts and growing tips were printed on the package label.
