The Vedetta gladiolus (Gladiolus), offered here in 50-piece packs, develops stunning, bowl-shaped flowers that slightly resemble tender California poppy blooms. It is widely considered one of the most elegant cultivars of its species. This plant reaches substantial size as it grows 140 centimetres tall. Cluster of flowers it produces are exceptionally long and rich. We recommend taking a closer look at their subdued yet fresh and saturated, light orange colour. Each of the stiff erect stems is surrounded by an attractive plume of long, linear, pointed, bright green leaves.
Plant gladioli bulbs late in spring after the last frost in May. To let plants take root and grow faster, give them a warm, sunny site with a loosened, rather compact, and moist yet not waterlogging soil. Gladioli need ground that is rich in humus, preferably enriched with compost. Provided with such conditions, they will open the first flowers already at the beginning of July and remain ornamental until end of August. Due to their strong vigour and large size of the rich inflorescences, gladioli are excellent candidates for border backgrounds and single-species arrangements. You can combine them with low growing annuals that produce small flowers, e.g. tufts of horned violet, dwarf marigolds, scarlet sage, cupflower (Nierembergia), or coleus (painted nettle) with its colourful leaves.
One package contains 50 bulbs of the Vedetta gladioli, measuring 12/14 cm in circumference. Essential growing instructions have been printed on each package.
