The Yalta crocus is an early spring plant. For many gardeners, emerging crocuses are a clear sign of the coming spring. Despite their size, subtle, bicolour flowers of Yalta crocus, immediately attract attention, especially when planted in a larger group. Crocus growth form makes the species a perfect filler for borders, rock and alpine gardens. The optimal position for growing crocuses should be sunny and warm up quickly. Presented species has no special requirements and thrives in a wide variety of soil types. If you are keen on growing substantial numbers of large flowers, you must make sure that the soil is rich in humus and permeable. Always plant crocuses in autumn, preferably from September to October. Giving those tubers a few weeks before the first frost allows them to take root firmly and then sprout and flower abundantly in spring.
