The Albomarginata hosta is a long-lived perennial that originates from Japan. This variety is characterized by bicolour leaves that form compact tufts, 40 to 60 centimetres tall and even 100 centimetres wide. It dazzles not only with its colours. The oval lanceolate leaves are pointed. Their edges are waved, and the surface slightly twisted. Every leaf is decorated with a green-white pattern. Green centres are surrounded by creamy-white edges that seem to spread inwards through greyish stripes. In summer, in June and July, charming light purple flowers appear in arched stems. This variety grows relatively late and that is why you can combine it with bulbous plants that flower in spring. It harmonizes with shade-loving perennials, such as false spirea (Astilbe) and King Solomon's seal. Hosta with colourful leaves look great on borders shaded by trees, under gazebos, and pergolas that are covered with vines.
This spectacular plant should grow in shade or partial shade. Rhizomes will quickly produce leaves if you plant them in a fertile, humous, moderately moist soil. They tolerate neutral and slightly acidic soil reaction. We recommend mulching the ground where hosta grows. These perennials are hardy yet might get hurt during snowless and frosty winters.
The price quoted here is valid for ten premium-class rhizomes of the presented Hosta variety. The bag with the rhizome is equipped with a label that contains basic plant facts and growing instructions.
