Argyle apple, also called mealy stringbark is a variety that produces round, leathery, greyish-blue leaves. They excrete a characteristic aroma they owe to the content of an essential oil with antiseptic properties. This evergreen shrub or tree does not winter in the ground in the Middle European climate. It is usually grown in conservatories or in pots at home. These plants grow several metres tall in the wild, but their growth is significantly limited in containers. Due to its ornamental value it is widely used in floristic arrangements.
Seeds of the Argyle apple should be sown in spring into containers placed in a bright, warm place. When the seedlings have grown, you may transplant them into single pots. This species thrives in the sun. It prefers fertile, moist soils with proper drainage layer. Young plants should not be exposed to strong winds, yet you may place the plants in pots on balconies, terraces or even to the garden in summer.
Each package contains 10 seeds of the Argyle apple. The growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the product information.
