The 'Rose Queen' arum lily (Zantedeschia) is a particularly ornamental variety of the popular pot plant that is also known as calla lily or Zantedeschia. This unique beauty that can be most commonly found at the florists delights with its large inflorescence. Its most ornamental part is the folded, cup-shaped spathe, a transformed leaf. The subtle form of this cup combined with its bright pink colour immediately attracts attention. The large leaves of the 'Rose Queen' arum lily also present excellent ornamental value. They sit on long stiff petioles and take on an elliptic shape with sharp tips. They have wavy edges and take on a beautiful dark green colour with visible white maculation (speckles). The whole plant has a compact, erect growth form and is 30 to 40 centimetres tall. This size predestines it for planting in the foreground of flower beds and in pots.

The arum lily tubers should be planted 8 to 10 centimetres deep, late in spring in moist, sufficiently loose humous soil. This plant prefers partially shady sites and therefore is perfect for borders that are not exposed to sunlight all day long. It looks great as a part of a colourful perennial group in company of hostas, alumroot and ferns, the species that display ornamental foliage. Should you plant to create a truly exotic arrangement, plant arum lily bulbs together with the miniature canna lilies. Arum lilies grown in pots will feel well on well lit windowsills and east and west facing terraces and balconies. They might require shading in places with southern exposure. The species that we present here in our store is not hardy, hence the tubers need to be excavated in autumn and transferred to cool dry room. They optimal storage temperature is between 10 and 13°C.
