Beetroot "Detroit 2" (Beta vulgaris var. Conditiva), whose treated seeds are offered here, is a variety extremely popular in Central Europe. It is widely grown because of its high productivity and excellent taste. Large, round roots are evenly coloured across the whole cross section. The dark red flesh forms delicate structure. The roots are juicy, tasty and may be used in many different ways. They are fitted for direct consumption, as well as production of juices, purees and preserves in jars. This variety is particularly recommended for long-term storing. Beetroots form a valuable part of the daily diet as a rich source of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants.
Beetroot is grown only from direct sow to the field. If you intend to harvest beetroots early with leaves, sow the seeds at the beginning of April. Start growing this vegetable in the middle of July the latest. Roots harvested in late autumn may be stored over the winter. Beetroot is a rather undemanding plant. You will get the richest crops from fertile, light soils that are rich in humus. Beetroot seeds offered in our store have been treated. This means that all diseases and pests that might have occured on the seed surface have been distroyed. This prevents microorganisms from attacking sprouting plants.
