Begonia Bertini Santa Cruz (Begonia boliviensis) is a variety with intensely red flowers with a slight orange tint. They have an elongated, bell-shaped form and hang strikingly from slender stems. It forms a dense, colourful cascade that looks beautiful in pots and window boxes. The dark green, narrow leaves with finely serrated edges highlight the vivid flower colour. This plant performs well on balconies, terraces and in flower beds. It flowers for a long time and abundantly throughout the summer.
Plant the tuber from March to May, once the risk of frost has passed.
The recommended depth for placing the tuber in the growing medium is 5-7 cm.
Allow 25-30 cm between plants so they can develop freely.
The plant grows to 20-35 cm tall.
Flowering begins in June and lasts until October.
This variety is not frost-hardy. The tubers should be lifted in autumn and stored in a cool, dry place until spring.
Begonia is ideal for balcony boxes, hanging baskets and larger pots. It creates striking trailing arrangements and provides a strong splash of colour. It grows best in sunny or lightly shaded positions.
