The 'Red Fox' blood amaranth constitutes a remarkable garden decoration. Its rich inflorescences and colourful foliage offer an alternative to traditional flowers. These dense plants reach height of 30 to 50 cm and produce long, red, coarse panicles. The burgundy-brown leaves only underscore the unusual appearance of the plant. Its paniculate inflorescences appear from July to October. colourful plants with an interesting habit look splendid on flowerbeds, garden groupings and planted alongside driveways and paths. The erect stalks with inflorescences look wonderful in bouquets. They remain exceptionally ornamental when dried, too. Prince's feather, as this plant is also called, looks beautiful in long-lasting winter arrangements. This species can be planted in containers - alone or in company of other plants. Red amaranth is an easy-to-grow and extremely decorative plant that will help you transform your garden.

Sow amaranth seeds in April in greenhouses or in May directly onto the target site. The 40 × 50 cm spacings are recommended in order to let the plants develop well. This plant prefers sunny sites with a fertile, rich soil that should be loose and not too dry. As a thermophilic plant, it feels best in sheltered situations. Removing faded inflorescences and systematic weeding of the beds belong to the essential care measures.
