Burgundy Love daylily (Hemerocallis hybrida) produces extremely ornamental, double blooms that take on deep, dark red colour. These plants sprout numerous, long, spiky leaves that form dense, broad tufts. Stiff flowering stalks ending with several blooms emerge from the foliage in summer. Burgundy Love is a rather low growing variety that grows up to 55 cm tall. It looks stunning panted in groups on perennial borders or in rows alongside lawns, paths, or fences. This compact variety may also be grown in containers on terraces and balconies.

Spring is the perfect time to plant daylilies in the ground, but you may also plant them in autumn. These plants prefer sunny sites and tolerate partially shady locations. They grow best in soils rich in nutrients and humus that also show high water capacity. They would bloom magnificently every year, as long as you remember to fertilize them regularly with mineral–organic fertilizers. This species winters in the ground, but the plants growing in pots should be protected against the frosts.
