Castor Oil Plant - Ricinus communis
The Castor Oil Plant is a poorly branched annual plant that grows rampantly. Growing up to 2 metres in height, this variety has shiny large palmate leaves in a lovely green. This variety features a plethora of decorative spiky fruit that grow at the top of each shoot. The Castor Oil Plant is an excellent choice for gardens or parks, and can be grown on its own. It is a highly valued variety for a cover plant.
Growing: sow the seeds in pots (around 10 centimetres in diameter) from March to early April. Plant out into the soil in 1m spacings in the second half of May or when there is no risk of frost.
