Celtuce "Purpurat" (Lactuca sativa), also known as stem lettuce, asparagus lettuce, cellery lettuce or Chinese lettuce, is a truly extraordinary plant: it produces half-metre long, edible, juicy stems and large red leaves. This rather unpopular, yet easily cultivated plant likes low temperatures and does not require any special kind of soil. It will yield rich harvest of high-quality stems and leaves in every medium compact, non-acidic garden soil. We recommend to eat "Purpurat" celtuce raw in salads, boiled like asparagus, or even… pickled!

If you would like to introduce this unique plant to your garden, sow its seed directly to the ground in early spring. Its leaves and juicy stem will be ready for harvest in early summer. All edible parts of celtuce show pleasant, tender taste and high fibre content. They are digestible and contain the full set of the most important vitamins.

A package contains 0.5 g of "Purpurat" celtuce seeds, as well as growing instructions and the sow-by date.
