The Crimson Beauty variety of the canna lily produces delightful pink-red flowers and intensely green leaves. That tropical appearance fascinates many gardeners and constitutes original decoration of any garden. Canna lilies grow 120 to 150 centimetres tall and are therefore recommended for planting in the ground and in containers. Its elegant inflorescences are like an ornate dress that decorate the plant from mid-summer to the beginning of autumn. The Crimson Beauty immediately attracts attention and adds a bright colour into its surroundings. It looks beautiful together with lower perennials on the lawn. The offered canna lily is suitable for decorating balconies and terraces. When planted in a suitable container, it will shine all season long.

You need a warm, sunny place that is sheltered from the wind to successfully grow canna lilies. Plant its rhizomes horizontally in shallow grooves. Canna lily requires a fertile, well-cultivated soil that is rich in humus and nutrients. You can start planting in May, but we recommend to produce seedlings in advance. For that purpose, put rhizomes into pots kept in warm rooms in mid-March already. That way, you obtain ready-to-plant young plants at the time of planting and speed up the flowering season. Canna lily requires frequent watering in summer and systematic fertilization several times a season. We also recommend removing faded inflorescences, so the plants can focus on production of new buds.

Kanna is a species that cannot winter in the ground in most of Europe. Dig out and clean the rhizomes in autumn. Store them until spring and plant again in pots or in the garden.
