Crown imperial is a plant that fully deserves its name. The "William Rex" variety develops deeply saturated, orange blooms. Their petals, that take on a fiery, orange-red colouring, together with its unusual shape are the features that give this plant an exotic flair.

Tall plants that grow from large bulbs prefer sunny sites. You may plant these crown imperials on sites with dispersed light, for example close to thin trees. Blooming takes place at the end of April and beginning of May. Strong stems covered with lanceolate leaves carry crowns of 6 to 12 bell-shaped, downward bent flowers. An attractive plume of leaves towers rises above them.

Large and healthy bulbs of the crown imperial require a highly permeable, humous and deeply cultivated soil. They have low water requirements and should be watered sparsely. Plant them rather deep, 20 cm below the ground level, starting at the end of August and continuing all September long. Cover them with conifer twigs and dry leaves. These bulbs do not need to be excavated each season.

"William Rex" constitutes a reliable, seasonal decoration of a border, perennial group and shine among the lower growing plants. It looks magnificent in larger groups on lawns. Rows of the crown imperial look impressive alongside building walls and fences.

Hereby we offer 1 bulb of the "William Rex" crown imperials sized at least 20 cm in diameter.
