Dahlia 'Bluesette' is a low, compact variety with fully double pink flowers. The petals have gently lightened tips, adding variation to the plant's vivid colour. With its regular flower shape and dense habit, this dahlia keeps a very neat appearance throughout the season. It works particularly well as a steady splash of colour in the lower parts of borders and along garden edging.
Plant the tuber in spring, from April to May, once the frosts have passed and the soil has warmed up. An earlier start is possible in pots indoors.
Place the tuber under a layer of soil about 5-8 cm thick, so that the eyes sit just below the surface of the growing medium.
Leave 30-40 cm between plants so they have room to grow freely and keep their compact habit.
This variety reaches 50-60 cm, so it is well suited to the front of a border and to larger containers.
The flowers appear in July and last until the first autumn chills.
This dahlia does not overwinter in the ground. In autumn, after the first frosts, the tuber should be lifted and stored in a cool, dry place until the next season.
It looks best in lower plantings, along the edges of borders, by paths, or in terrace boxes. The pink colour combines well with white, violet, and plants with silvery leaves. The flowers are also suitable for small summer bouquets.
