Choose a sunny or partially shaded position for your planned dahlia planting. It should be sheltered from strong winds, which can break brittle, tall stems. Dig out dahlia tubers and store them over winter with a stub of the stem. Dry them slightly and store in a cool room in temperatures over the freezing point.
