Dahlia-flowered zinnia "Candy Stripe" (Zinnia elegans fl. pl. daehliaeflora) is an exceptional variety, whose pastel-coloured blooms are decorated with fancy stripes. Magnificent, double flowers sit atop strong, erect stems that grow 70 cm tall the most. Inflorescences of the plants that would grow from the seeds selection available in our store produce bright coloured flowers with red, irregular stripes. These unusually coloured flowers would please our eyes all summer long until late autumn. They would look great at tall borders and flower beds, particularly when planted in larger groupings in which you will be able to admire the multitude of their colours. They also work well as cut flowers that stay fresh in a vase for up to two weeks.

Zinnia seeds should be sown early in spring in a warm room, while the freshly emerged seedlings need to be pricked out after they have developed the first pairs of true leaves. Transplant seedlings to the permanent site in the second half of May, keeping 20 - 30 cm spacings between them. You may also sow zinnias directly on the field in the middle of spring. Plants grown that way would bloom a few weeks later. Dahlia-flowered zinnias are quite demanding in regard to growing conditions. In order for them to bloom abundantly you need to provide them with a well-lit place. The soil needs to be warm, rich in nutrients and with high water capacity. Water the plants in drier periods.
