We recommend preparing a site for dahlia in advance. It will be ready for planting of the rootstock when tilled 30 to 40 centimetres deep, weeded, cleaned of stones, and enriched with a fermented compost. Put the rootstocks into the sufficiently large holes and cover them with a 5 to 10 centimetre thick layer of soil. The distance between the plants depends on the expected size of the plant. Keep plants of this variety 50 centimetres apart. Bushy dahlias should be fed and watered all season long. Their stems, heavy with flowers, might require staking. Cut off wilted flowers to extend the flowering period and make it even richer. Dahlia tubers should not be planted outside earlier than mid-May, into holes thrice the size of the rootstock. A layer of soil, a couple of inches thick, should lay over the rootstock. The dried remnant of the last year's shoot should stick out from the ground. After the dahlia season is over, when the first autumn frost comes, you must dig up the rootstocks and store them inside until the next planting late in spring the next year.
