The Rip City dahlia is a wonderful variety that produces unique dark flowers. The 100 to 110 centimetre tall plants bear Bordeaux-red-mahogany blooms. The colour only gets darker towards the centre of the flower what makes it look even darker. The velvety surface of the petals add depth and finesse to the wonderfully shaped flowers. Rip City is an outstanding variety that will definitely stand out from the traditional flower bed plants. You can grow it alone or in company of other perennials with which it will create a strong colourful accent. A dark, beautiful dahlia is a great idea for bouquets with a touch of mystery. Apart from their splendid looks, dahlias guarantee great durability of the flowers, both in the garden and in a vase.

Successful dahlia cultivation depends on several basic rules. Dahlia rootstock must be planted late in spring after the last frost. The most beautiful dahlias grow on a sunny situation or in only partial shade. Dahlia prefers light, fertile soil with high humus and nutrients' content. The appropriate moisture is yet another decisive factor. The soil needs to be watered but not waterlogged.  Regular fertilization improves the quality and number of blooms produced by dahlia plants. Dahlia is a species that cannot winter in the ground in Europe, hence its tubers must be dug out in summer. Cut the shoots and excavate the tuberous roots after the first cold wave in autumn. Store rootstock in peat or sawdust in open boxes and containers placed in a cool room where temperature will not drop below the freezing point.

Each package contains 10 premium quality dahlia rootstocks of the Rip City variety. Basic plant growing instructions can be found on the package.
