The Topmix Purple dahlia is a charming single-flowered variety that produces myriads of flowers. Its dark petals are cheered up by golden centres that perfectly accentuate the charm of the plant. A single inflorescence of the presented variety consists of eight to ten large broad petals that loosely surround the centre built of disc florets. Dahlias, universally loved by gardeners, constitute one of the most beautiful garden flowers. Long flowering period and the abundance of flowers prevent dahlias from going out of fashion. Charming Topmix Purple flowers beautifully spread on the forefront of flower beds, at the path edgings, and they look great in planters. Dwarf dahlias, who grow 25 to 35 centimetres tall, to which the Topmix Purple belongs, like the company of its differently coloured relatives, but they would not be out of place in combination with other plants that have a fixed place on your flower bed or lawn. Their feathery leaves provide a great background for the brightly coloured flowers. The first buds unfold already in June but their high season comes in July and August. These dahlias reliably produce new flowers - the autumn frost might be the only obstacle that could stop them.

Dahlias should be planted on sunny situations that are also sheltered from the wind. Keep plants 20 to 50 centimetres apart. From April to June, the tuberous rootstocks should be planted about five centimetres deep. They develop well in sandy-clay, fertile, and permeable soil. They require watering during periods of drought. Do not forget to remove wilted flowers. Dahlia reacts well to fertilization with manure, compost, and mineral fertilizers.

Dahlia tuberous rootstocks cannot winter in the field and must be excavated after the first frost. Trim the stem first and then gently excavate the rootstock. Store the rootstocks in ventilated open boxes in a dry place where the temperature is stabilized between 2 and 4?C. Cover the roots with peat in order to ensure best possible storage conditions. If you detect loss of firmness or wrinkled surface on the rootstocks, you can moisten them slightly.

A single package contains 10 pieces of premium quality rootstock of the Topmix Purple dahlia. Basic plant growing instructions can be found on the package.
