The "Crimson Pirate" daylily (Hemerocallis) is considered by many as the ideal perennial - it is easy to grow and undemanding, long-lived, reliably blooming and ornamental thanks to both flowers and leaves. The variety offered here attracts immediate attention thanks to the saturated colour of its petals - its blooms are carmine-red with a golden-yellow, contrasting perianth. Although each flower adorns the plant for only a day, the "Crimson Pirate" daylily is well-known for its vigour and productivity, as it opens new buds every day, blooming tirelessly from July to September. Its flowers grow on the erect, naked, 50 - 60 cm tall stalks. Underneath spread tufts of grass-like, vividly green leaves.

Daylily rhizomes should be planted in spring on sunny and partially shady sites. These undemanding, exceptionally vigorous perennial plants like many different kinds of garden soils. They are resistant to periodic summer droughts. Daylilies do not fear strong frosts, diseases nor pests and spread broader and broader every year. The "Crimson Pirate" daylily may be grown on the front lawn or in the backround of flower beds. Due to its dense, broad habit it will effectively cover less attractive shoots of the tall lilies and hollyhocks. For the same reason it will form a formidable background for lower growing flowering plants.

One package contains 1 large, healthy first choice rhizome. Each package contains the most important growing tips.
