The 'River Wye' daylily will enchant you with the yellow colour of its tender double flowers. A lemon yellow cloud surrounded by the long narrow light green leaves always constitutes a charming garden decoration. The abundantly blooming 'River Wye' daylily is an exceptional variety with a slightly frizzled corolla that grows 60 to 70 cm tall. It is undemanding and exceptionally multifunctional what allows to use in various garden styles. It will adorn the vicinity of the house, shine near your cottage and add an elegant note to a square in front of the company headquarters or a public office. Rows of these magnificent flowers are perfectly suited for adorning narrow green belts alongside driveways or lawn edges. The subtle and fresh 'River Wye' daylily gives the flower beds, pond edgings and lawns a cheerful sparkle.

The flowers of the presented variety stand out with their funnel shape. They develop on long naked stems. Several, up to a dozen buds develop on a top of each stem. New ones open every day, extending therefore the flowering period from June to August. The lanceolate narrow arching leaves grow in opposite fans. The plants take on a compact, tuft habit.

Daylilies can be grown on various sites, as this plant can adapt to different conditions. It only does not tolerate complete shade.  Standard average garden soil suits it fine, provided you enrich it with a dab of compost. The maintenance of daylily tufts is limited to watering during drought periods and removing the last year's foliage in spring. We also recommend to fertilize the rootstocks from time to time.

Daylily rhizomes should be planted early in spring or in autumn. Place them circa 5 cm deep and about 30 to 60 cm apart. The 'River Wye' daylily is a long lived perennial just like other varieties of this species and can grow at the same site for years. It winters well in the ground - we recommend to cut off the leaves and cover the plant with a thin layer of mulch after the first frost.

The price quoted here is valid for one first choice daylily rootstock of the presented variety. The bag containing the rootstock is equipped with a label that contains basic plant information and growing instructions.
