The Diamond Edge orpine (Sedum telephium) is a highly valued, unique variety, that produces ornamental flowers and leaves. The pastel pink colour of its flower umbels looks fresh and beautiful within the frame of extra-large, 10 centimetres long, oval, bluish leaves that have a creamy-white edging. This unusual combination of light, cheerful colours make presented variety a valuable addition to borders and rock gardens. The Diamond Edge stonecrop stands out with a compact habit and moderate vigour, as it grows 40 centimetres on average. It is not prone to disease and pest attacks. It is a hardy and undemanding plant. It likes permeable soils, including lime, and develops the most abundant, spectacular habit on sunny sites.
Stonecrop seedlings are the best investment in dry, sunny sites with meagre soil. The magnificent colourful Diamond Edge will look great planted in a larger group in a less formal, naturalistic planting. It is recommended for alpine gardens, large arrangements that imitate mountain flora, and smaller rock gardens. It can grow under fences, south-facing walls, alongside paths, and at edges of sunny lawns. The variety that we offer here in our store remains ornamental all season long. The peak of its flowering period spreads from August to October. Shoots with opened umbels are worth cutting and drying. For best possible results, we recommend planting this pastel coloured stonecrop together with the white-flowered Summer Surprise and Stardust varieties, or the Purple Emperor and José Aubergine cultivars that develop purple shoots and foliage.
