Irises, sometimes called sword lilies, are popular bulbous plants. Dutch irises stand out with the distinct, clearly visible yellow dot under spreading along the main nerve. This presented variety Silvery Beauty develops bicolour, pastel flowers. It is delicate and subtle and has plenty of charm. Dutch irises bloom at the end of spring and herald the coming summer.

Iris flowers strike with an intriguing, easily recognisable build. There is a clearly visible distinction between the lower and upper petals that form meshy structures together. The "Silvery Beauty" produces magnificent bicolour blooms. Their upper corolla is pale blue, while the lower petals are white with a characteristic yellow accent. The subtle colour play can be only considered stylish. The long, narrow leaves resemble grass haulms. Their form only underscores the fashion of the flowers. There are usually several flowers developing on a single stem.

Irises should be planted on sunny and warm sites. The soil needs to be fertile with a neutral reaction and moderately moist. Quickly warming up and permeable soils are the best. Dutch irises require some attention, but the effect visible in the garden is worth a little effort. Remove the wilted flowers if possible.

The 50-60 cm tall irises are perfectly suited for planting in groups on borders and flower beds. You may also plant them against a background of trees and shrubs. They look particularly majestic in containers and boxes. You may force them all year and grow for cut flowers.
