"Mascotte" bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) is a very productive, dwarf variety that is ideal for balconies and terraces. This variety shows high resistance to anthracnose and bean mosaic virus so chemical control agents would not be needed in the vicinity of the household. "Mascotte" bean develops compact bushes consisting of stiff shoots that grow up to 45 cm tall. Thanks to it, it thrives in container cultivation. It develops thin pods that grow circa 14 cm long.
Green pods taste great cooked and are also perfect for freezing.
Seeds of the "Mascotte" bean should be sown from May to June directly to the site where the plants are supposed to grow. French bean loves sunny, warm and wind-sheltered sites. You do not need deep containers for bean culture. It yields rich harvest in medium compact, fertile soils that are rich in humus. You should remember to water the plants regularly. Beans need the most water in the germination stage, but the soil should not dry out at the next stages, either. Pods can be harvested from July to September.
Each package contains 20 g of the "Mascotte" dwarf, green French bean seeds that are ideal for balconies and terraces. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
