"Frodo" tomato (Lycorpersicon esculentum) is a variety considered one of the earlier ones, as first fruit may be harvested 66 - 75 days after from planting the seedlings. This dwarf variety is recommended for field cultivation. It produces rich crops of medium-sized fruit that weigh 70 - 80 g. Cylindrical berries take on vivid colour, do not tend to break and can therefore be easily transported. "Frodo" variety is particularly valued as material for preserves - especially when processed whole.

"Frodo" tomatoes have to be grown from seedlings prepared in heated room. The optimum time for sowing "Frodo" tomato seeds falls for end of March and beginning of April. Seedlings should be transplanted to the permanent site in the middle of May, after the risk of spring frosts has passed. Plants need sufficient space to grow well, therefore 70 - 80 x 40 cm spacings are recommended. The fruit start to ripen already in July. Choose sunny and warm sites for cultivation of tomatoes that also need regular fertilization and watering.
