Pink Ball flossflower is an extremely valuable ornamental plant that blooms all summer long until first autumn frosts. This rather low-growing annual plant grows 15 - 20 cm tall. Numerous tiny blooms are gathered in large panicles or umbels. Flowers of the "Pink Ball" cultivar take on splendid beautiful colour and look great on borders and edgings. Blue mink, or blue weed, as this plant is also called, thrives in pots and boxes, too, and makes for a great ornamental plant for balconies and terraces.
Flossflower should be grown from seedlings prepared early in spring in a heated room. In order to prepare seedlings sow flossflower seeds to boxes or seeding trays filled with light and permeable soil. They would germinate after 8 - 10 days. Seedlings are transplanted outside in the second half of May, after the risk of spring frosts is gone. You ill achieve denser tufts when you plant several plants at one place. Provide them with a sunny site so they bloom abundantly. "Pink Ball" flossflower prefers light soils rich in nutrients. They should be steadily moist and permeable.
