"Pirat", the low-growing French marigold (Tagetes patula nana) is a variety that produces beautiful, bicolour blooms. The "Pirat" cultivar may grow 20 - 25 cm tall and its shoots branch out broadly, forming compact, dense tufts. Flowers develop atop stalks, adorning the plants from the start of summer until the first autumn frosts. Double inflorescences have honey-gold centres that are surrounded by mahogany ray flowers. The low-growing "Pirat" French marigold blooms abundantly and evenly and is perfect for borders and flower beds. It looks charming on lawn edgings and paths. French marigold retains its ornamental value for a long time and looks great in pots, boxes and decorative bowls.
Marigold seeds are sown in early spring under covers or indoors. Direct sow onto the field may only be possible in May, after the risk of spring frosts has passed. The emergence occurs after one week. 15 x 30 cm are the optimal spacings allowing for proper "Pirat" French marigold development. The plants will bloom in the most beautiful way when you plant them in a sunny place, because they develop smaller blooms in partial shade. This species does not require much in regard to the soil - you only need to provide them with soil that is moderately rich in nutrients and water.
Each package contains 1 g of the honey-mahogany low-growing "Pirat" French marigold seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
