Orange-mahogany french marigold "Queen Sophia" (Tagetes patula nana) is the unquestioned leader among the bushy marigold varieties. This small (reaching heights of 20-30 cm) lady enchants with thick, feathery, dark green foliage that provides wonderful background for its main attraction: numerous, double flowers with mahogany petals with orange-golden edges. French marigold belongs to the longest blooming annual plants, as it pleases our eyes from June until first October frosts.
Seeds of this beautiful variety that is constantly available in our store can be sown indoors or to a hotbed in early spring. Direct sowing into ground after the late spring frost also brings respectable results. This cultivation method will prove successful if we choose a sunny, sheltered and quickly warming up site for our marigolds. Environmental requirements of this sturdy plants are rather low: it likes average garden soils with high permeability and medium humous content. French marigold "Queen Sophia" will put on a great garden show with its originally coloured relatives, like the creamy-flowered "Kilimanjaro" marigold, "Orange Flame" or "Pascal" with intricately patterned petals.
