The "Benfica" Hippeastrum, amaryllis is an exceptionally elegant variety whose flowers take on a deep red colour. Their velvety petals add a unique touch to the fully unfolded blooms. Flowers develop several weeks after the planting of the bulbs and hippeastrum plants reach heights of 50 to 60 centimetres. Amaryllis is most commonly grown in pots, but you can also decorate a balcony, terrace, or winter garden with it. It is a magnificent cut flower that stays fresh in a vase for a long time.

Plant amaryllis bulbs in a permeable soil that is rich in humus. Place the bulbs on two thirds deep in the soil. Water them regularly and make sure to feed them with special multicomponent fertilizers for flowering plants. Place the pots in a bright place. Stop watering after all flowers have wilted. This measure would make bulbs go into dormancy stage. As soon as the leaves have partially dried, cut them several centimetres over the bulb. Transfer pots to a dry and cool place for six to eight weeks. You can also take out bulbs from the soil and store them in dry peat.

Each package contains 1 bulb of the "Benfica" hippeastrum, amaryllis sized 24 to 26 centimetres in circumference. The most important plant growing instructions were included in the product description on the package.
