This edible, delicious fungus is the most popular mushroom in China and Japan. It is very hard to get in Europe, as it is endangered with extinction and under complete legal protection in many countries. It stands out with its characteristic looks - it is round and thickly overgrown with spikes. The pale, creamy-white colour turns yellowish, even brownish with time. The flesh is springy, displays typical fungus aroma and a sweety taste.
The culture may take place on broad-leaved tree wood on a shady site. The spores develop in temperature between 15 to 21°C. You may harvest the mushrooms from one log twice a year (in spring and autumn) for even 8 years.
