Magma is a charming, dark red variety of a large-flowered gladiolus. It produces flowers with broad petals that are gathered at the top of a stiff, tall stem. This noble, elegant species provides excellent material for cut flowers that is commonly used in the summer to decorate ball rooms, churches, and government agencies. Gladioli are also eagerly planted on garden or backyard borders and on belts alongside buildings and fences. The presented Magma variety stands out with saturated, red colour is the smash hit for gardens that lack a distinct decoration.
We recommend waiting a little with planting. Warmed, dried soil facilitates development of those plants. The time of gladioli planting depends in a great extent on weather. The optimal time window for planting usually begins end of April. If the weather is cold and rainy, you better wait with planting until mid-May. A sunny, sheltered corner is the best place for growing gladioli that need a fertile, fresh, permeable soil with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction. It is worth mulching the gladioli planting site to prevent the soil from losing moisture. Plants within a gladioli group should be planted 15 to 20 centimetres apart. Put corms 8 to 12 centimetres deep so the plants are able to take root properly. Gladioli do not belong to plants that winter in the ground. Dig out the bulbs in autumn and store until the planting next spring.
One package contains 50 gladioli bulbs of the presented variety. These bulbs are sized 12/14 centimetres in circumference. The basic plant information and growing instructions can be found on the package label.
