The "Astra Brown" medium tall sunflower that we present as a part of the Polish Flowers series is a amber-coloured flower. It adorns the garden with semi-double flowers that take on a truly exquisite form. It resembles more a gerbera than a sunflower. It fits onto borders and flower beds.

Thanks to the erect habit of the hairy stems and numerous side stems it blooms reliably and exuberantly until autumn. These medium tall, 100 to 120 cm, plants can be grown as the tallest component of a multi-flower composition. The sunny flowers with densely growing petals and a dark centre look great at a background of a hedge or grown alongside a driveway or path. Sunflowers are also excellent melliferous plants. Bees and butterflies feed on the nectar. Sunflowers are also magnificent cut flowers that always evokes positive reactions. The "Astra Brown" sunflowers with there flowers coloured like the setting sun are undemanding plants. The cultivation of those plants can be mastered by almost everyone. Sow the seeds directly onto the field from April to June, every 40 x 50 cm apart. These sunflowers prefer sunny, sheltered sites with fertile, nutrient-rich and moist soil. We recommend to sow pointwise, 2-3 seeds per hole, about 3 cm deep. The shallow sowing may allow the birds to forage on the seeds. Sunflowers grow relatively quickly. The flowers adorn them from July to September.
